Summary of Our Great National Parks: Television Mini-Series
Our Great National Parks—informative documentary—is a mini series that, in 5 episodes, gives an introductory episode followed by 4 episodes that take the viewer through 4 world national parks: Chilian Patagonia (24 conserved parklands), Tsavo Conservation Area Kenya, Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, and Gunung Leuser Indonesia. Mr. Obama has a laid back, easy narration manner that makes the series relatable. He presents the importance of establishing national parks without beating the environmental theme into the ground and enables the audience to think about it in a relatable, digestible way. The camera work is on par or above National Geographic quality and allows viewers to see animals interacting with each other in ways not seen before.

Episode 2: Chilian Patagonia
Ben Meyers’ Rating: 4.3|5.0 Starsìììì
Chilian Patagonia is a much-improved episode than the first episode as it has focused on a specific area and given depth to an area the general public may know little about. It is interesting to know how much of Chile is in a protected status versus the rest of the world. The focus is on wildlife that live in this area. The documentary is well presented. The landscapes are wonderful and several animals are introduced to the audience that may not have been known about before.

Episode 3: Tsavo Kenya
Ben Meyers’ Rating: 4.3|5.0 Starsìììì
Tsavo Kenya—a national park in Africa—does not spare its quality of presentation. This episode is easier to digest because it narrows its focus and allows the audience more time to digest a smaller piece of area and the animals that inhabit that area. This episode acts more like a documentary in format. Great work for all involved. in production.

Episode 5: Gunung Leuser, Indonesia
Ben Meyers’ Rating: 4.3|5.0 Starsìììì
Gunung Leuser, Indonesia—small view into Mr. Obama's younger years—again relies on outstanding camerawork and superb narration. One particularly interesting dialogue line comments on the richness of land left untouched versus the sterility of cultivated land and then shows the difference in camerawork. The episode again focuses on the life of creatures who inhabit undisturbed land. One gains appreciation for preserved lands and the importance in giving wildlife a place to be.
Storyline
This episode has outstanding film footage that allows exceptionally close investigation of interesting wildlife.
