All Quiet on the Western Front—odd film with tragedy throughout—seems a little choppy as if editing did not put enough thought process or allow enough time for transitioning between scenes. Overall, the movie works in the high-quality category of presentation. Know that the violence and gore are not over-the-top with nothing left to the imagination in the portrayal of the realities of on-the-ground-warfare. The movie plays at the edge of total irony with late-enlistment of a group of friends and early armistice. The movie is impactful but needs time to earn its deeper acceptance among the general war movie fan audience.
