Pinocchio—Italian movie—serves the international audience. The live action treatment takes the movie out of traditional animation technique and with that single choice makes it unique and wonderfully new. Federico Lelapi completely refreshes the Pinocchio character interpretation. It’s wonderful to see Roberto Benigni after his outstanding performance in Life is Beautiful. He plays the part of Geppetto here. This movie has been highly rewritten from the Disney Classic animation of the same name. It serves the child/adult audience well. Take time to appreciate the tremendous detailing of both costuming and background scenery. Terrific realism.
