THE EAGLE HAS LANDED (Theatrical Release USA 1977)

Ben Meyers’ rating: 3.4|5.0 Starsììì

The Eagle Has Landed
moves like a cookie cutter film without any new moves and the special effects necessary to drive its storyline. While the actors Robert Duvall, Michael Caine, and Donald Sutherland are excellent, their performance in this film is weak. It’s a ho-hum film to fill in some Saturday afternoon time or to show as a running background flick for a party.

Storyline

World War II Germans hatch a plan to kidnap Winston Churchill.

Additional Thanks

Thank you to Director John Sturges for directing effort. Thank you to Producers David Niven Jr. and Jack Wiener for making the film possible. Additional characters/cast include: Oberst Kurt Steiner (Michael Caine), Liam Devlin (Donald Sutherland), Colonel Radl (Robert Duvall), Molly (Jenny Aqutter), Himmler (Donald Pleasence), Admiral Canaris (Anthony Quayle), Joanna Grey (Jean Marsh), Captain von Neustadt (Sven-Bertil Taube), and Father Verecker (John Standing).

Buy a ticket? Yes? No? Maybe?

Maybe. The movie, somewhat interesting, does not move along as well as the World War II movie, Wind Talkers, or the Vietnam movie, We Were Soldiers.
