The Golden Compass—inspired
by novelist Philip Pullman’s stories—shows great imagination working within a parallel
universe where working with personal daemons, powerful armor-shielded bears,
and rescuing orphans becomes the common place. The movie is a WOW! piece of
entertainment that features the voices of actors like Ian McShane, Freddie
Highmore, and Ian McKellen. Dakota Blue Richards, who plays Lyra, does an outstanding
job.

Buy a ticket? Yes? No? Maybe?
Yes.
The story is complicated and rich in symbolism. The film deserves a sequel.
