THE GIVER (Theatrical Release USA 2014)

The Giver
is an intellectual concept movie. The movie is based on the concept that a single community person holds all memories of its past and serves as an advisor to the government on the best decisions to make for the future based on remembered past events. The new receiver of memory, however, makes the decision that memory should once again be released to all members of the community. This story and script are based on Lois Lowry’s book of the same name. The film plays on the idea that it is wrong to have emotion and reminds one of the film Equilibrium. The film is highly crafted. Brenton Thwaites does a terrific job of interpreting the role of Jonas.
