SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW (Theatrical Review USA 2004)

Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow
turns into an intriguing film, thoughtfully portrayed. The color cinematography has a type of noir effect, almost as if there is a gray overlay, that makes it look old-fashioned, as if coming out of the year 1939. Besides the good storyline, it’s the additions of robots and flying airplanes with flapping wings that encourage a viewing. Look for the great costuming chosen for Angelina Jolie. The interesting casting choice of Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow works as a fair to good combination.

Buy a ticket? Yes? No? Maybe?

Yes. While it lost money at the box office, it stands as a classic sci fi/action film based on a type of comic book edginess that makes it unique.
