RIO LOBO (Theatrical Release USA 1970)

Ben Meyers’ rating: 3.8|5.0 Starsììì

Rio Lobo
—more solid than other John Wayne films—has a good story supported with Jack Elam and Christopher Mitchum. John Wayne’s acting seems weak; but, overall, the John Wayne charisma that everyone looks for in his films is not lost.

Storyline

Lieutenant Colonel Cord McNally (John Wayne) transports a chest of gold with Lieutenant Ned Forsythe in charge. The operation is hijacked by confederate soldiers who take the gold for themselves. McNally tries to capture the confederates involved, but is captured by the confederates. McNally realizes the operation succeeded because there had to be a traitor in the Union ranks.
