Now You See Me 2—a
sequel to the magician show Now You See
Me—uses the same high tech antics that marked the first film. This movie
tells a little of the back story of Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo), why and how he
went into the magician business and a little about his father. Overall, it
doesn’t pack the wallop the first film did, but that is partly because the
first film was such a surprise and now we’re prepared for the unique
showmanship this series offers. The casting department’s choice of Daniel
Radcliffe, from the Harry Potter series,
with Michael Caine does not work in this film. Michael Caine’s sophistication
overpowers the still young Daniel Radcliffe persona. You have to be quick to
catch the story’s line and to put the pieces together. It’s a good DVD watch
for that reason.
