THE IRON LADY (Theatrical Release USA 2011)

Ben Meyers’ rating: 3.9|5.0 Starsììì

The Iron Lady—
great movie, told well—is a fully entertaining and yet insightful biography about the late British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Meryl Streep plays the lead role beautifully. The film is a very good watch, well done.

Storyline

An aged and retired Margaret Thatcher buys milk at the local grocer, goes home unrecognized, and has breakfast with her deceased husband who she imagines at her breakfast table. She hears a woman talking to another person about ‘Margaret’. A woman enters the room where Margaret sits and remarks that she has found Margaret. Margaret states that she and Denis, her deceased husband, are both eating. A series of flashbacks move through her life from her childhood years in her parents’ home to school years and then to the role she played in British politics.
