THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG (Theatrical Release USA 2009)

Ben Meyers’ rating: 3.0|5.0 Starsììì

The Princess and the Frog
is a movie that tries, but fails. It starts like a classic Disney movie and begins going downhill after Tiana (voiced by Anika Noni Rose) buys a new restaurant. The movie seems blunt, without flow, and progresses to ho-hum boredom. It fails to capture the human spirit filled with heartfelt desire and cannot compare to movies such as The Lion King or Aladdin. The Princess and the Frog script sadly tries to recoup itself at the end, but again fails to capture that special essence that defines Disney’s signature movies.
